Press-On Nail Sizing Guide - How to find your perfect fit

Getting the right size takes about two minutes and makes all the difference. Follow these three steps and your press-ons will sit flush, stay on longer, and look like they were custom made for you.

Step 1: Measure your nails

You'll need a soft measuring tape or a thin strip of paper and a ruler.

Place the tape or paper strip across the widest part of your nail, not the tip, but the flat surface of the nail bed. Write down the measurement in millimetres for each finger. Your nails are probably different widths, so measure all ten.

Tip: jot your sizes down in your phone notes so you have them handy every time you order.

Step 2: Match to our size chart

Size Nail width
XS up to 12mm
S 13–14mm
M 15–16mm
L 17–18mm
XL 19mm and above

Most customers find their thumbs need a larger size than the rest of their fingers, that's completely normal. Lay the press-ons against your nails before applying to find the best match for each finger.

Step 3: When in between sizes, size up

If your nail sits right on the border between two sizes, always go larger. A slightly wider press-on can be gently filed at the sides to fit your nail shape precisely. A press-on that's too narrow will leave gaps at the edges and won't stay on as well.

Getting the best fit

If a size feels slightly too wide, use a nail file to gently file the sides down until it sits flush with your natural nail. Take your time with this step, a well-fitted press-on can last one to two weeks.

Applying with tabs vs glue

Press-ons can be applied with the included jelly adhesive tabs for a temporary hold (great for events, easy removal), or with nail glue for a longer-lasting bond of up to two weeks. Whichever you choose, make sure the press-on covers your nail edge to edge before pressing down firmly for 30 seconds. All our press-ons come with jelly-tabs.

Common questions

  1. What if none of the sizes cover my nail properly? Lay each press-on against your nail before removing the backing. The right size should cover your nail bed fully without overhanging onto the skin at the sides. If it's slightly too wide, file the edges gently for a perfect fit.
  2. Can I reuse press-on nails? Yes, if applied with jelly tabs rather than glue, press-ons can be removed carefully and reused. Store them in the original box or a small zip-lock bag. Clean off any adhesive residue before reapplying.
  3. How do I remove press-ons without damaging my nails? Never force or peel them off. Soak your fingertips in warm soapy water for a few minutes, then gently rock the press-on side to side until it releases. This keeps both your natural nails and the press-ons in good shape.
  4. My nail bed is quite curved, will press-ons still fit? Press-ons work best on relatively flat nail beds. If your nails have a strong natural curve, apply firm pressure for a full 60 seconds when pressing down, and consider using nail glue rather than tabs for a more secure bond.
