What the 2026 Emmys Nails Are Really Saying (and What Works for a Kiwi Spring)

Hey Gorgeous!

Did your feed get taken over by Emmys nails last week too? Ours did. The 2026 Emmy Awards landed on 14 September, and while half of New Zealand was watching for the show wins, the nail world was busy zooming in on hands. As always with red carpet trends, some of it translates beautifully to a Kiwi spring, and some of it was clearly dressed for someone else's season. Let's break down what's actually worth copying.

The Looks Everyone's Talking About

Selena Gomez wore what her manicurist called "Frosted Sunset", a dusty pink shifting into shimmering metallic gold, applied in two coats with a metallic gold top coat for shine, finished with cuticle oil to keep it glossy all night. It was designed to match the gilded tone of her gown.

Quinta Brunson went with a nude ombré flecked with gold, soft and romantic against her slip dress. Ayo Edebiri wore a glassy silver with a velvety finish, cool and understated. Niecy Nash had the most ornate look of the night, velvet pink French tips with rhinestone embellishments along the edge. Florence Pugh kept things simple with a short, glossy peach that coordinated with her makeup, and Meg Stalter wore a warm metallic gold, built from one coat of gold polish under a crushed metallic top coat.

The common thread, honestly, is texture and finish doing a lot of the work: frosted, glassy, velvet, metallic. Fairly classic shapes and colours underneath, dressed up with a different kind of shine on top. That part travels anywhere, any season.

What Actually Works for a NZ Spring

This is where it gets useful. A frosted or metallic gold, like Selena's and Meg's, translates beautifully into spring. It reads warm and celebratory without needing a red carpet as an excuse, and it pairs nicely with our Butter Stardust Nail Wraps, which layer delicate gold line art of moons and stars over a buttery base, or the White Floral Gold Shimmer Ombre wraps if you want the same warmth with a bit more pattern.

Ayo Edebiri's glassy silver is a cooler, quieter look, and it suits an early spring week nicely. Our Blue Lagoon Swirl Nail Wraps give you that same watery, shimmering depth without needing full silver foil. And Florence Pugh's glossy peach is about as easy and wearable as spring gets, honestly interchangeable with our Apricot Glow or Sweetheart Swirl wraps if a soft, everyday pink is more your speed.

One to Save for Later

Niecy Nash's velvet pink French with rhinestones is a proper occasion look, gorgeous but a lot for a Tuesday. If you want that same "I made an effort" energy without the full jewel budget, our brand new Prowl Blue Purple Animal Print or Teal Tropical Ombre wraps give you a statement set for an actual night out, then come off in about ten minutes with a little oil once you're back to normal life.

How to Get Any of These at Home

None of this needs a stylist on retainer. A nail wrap gets you most of these looks in about ten minutes, no drying time, no smudging on the drive home. That's honestly the appeal, a wrap that's always in your drawer when you need it, instead of a colour you have to book three weeks ahead for.

Whatever you land on, you'll get up to 14 days of wear out of it. When you're ready for a change, remove gently with a nailspa or oil, never peel, your natural nail underneath will thank you.

Trends are fun to follow, but they're even more fun once you've worked out which ones actually suit the season you're standing in. Shop the full range, including this week's new arrivals, at ezynails.co.nz, or join the Gorgeous You Club for first look at new drops before anyone else.

Happy wrapping, Gorgeous! 💅💖 The EZYNails Team
